Baking Tips
You can add additional pizza toppings like mushrooms, bell peppers, or olives for extra flavor.
To make this dish vegetarian, replace the ground beef and sausage with a combination of vegetables like zucchini, mushrooms, and bell peppers.
If you prefer a crispier top, leave the foil off for the last 5 minutes of baking.
For a spicy kick, sprinkle some crushed red pepper flakes on top of the lasagna before serving.

1 lb (450g) ground beef
02
1 lb (450g) Italian sausage (casings removed)
03
1 onion, chopped
04
2 cloves garlic, minced
05
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
06
1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
07
1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
08
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
09
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
10
1/2 teaspoon sugar
11
Salt and pepper to taste
12
1 package (9 oz) refrigerated lasagna noodles (or 12 cooked noodles)
13
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
14
1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
15
1 cup ricotta cheese
16
2 tablespoons fresh basil (chopped, for garnish)
17
2 cups sliced pepperoni (or your choice of pizza toppings)
18
Olive oil for greasing the baking dish

Instructions

01
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with olive oil and set aside.
02
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.
03
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the meat mixture and sauté until softened, about 3 minutes.
04
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes (if using), and sugar. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
05
While the sauce is simmering, cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions (if using uncooked noodles, skip this step). Drain and set aside.
06
In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, 1/2 cup of the mozzarella cheese, and 1/2 cup of the Parmesan cheese. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
07
Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of the greased baking dish. Layer 3 lasagna noodles on top of the sauce, followed by a portion of the ricotta mixture, some pepperoni slices, and a generous handful of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
08
Repeat the layers (meat sauce, noodles, ricotta, pepperoni, and cheeses) two more times, ending with a layer of meat sauce and the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses on top.
09
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
10
Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil and extra pepperoni if desired.
